In 2010, the MAPS for Kids expansion of the school included a stunning two-story walkway of colored glass blocks that connects the old and new buildings. The colored glass blocks form the score to the chase portion of the musical composition Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. Prokofiev wrote this music and narrative as a child’s introduction to the orchestra. Each color of glass block also has a different texture and represents a different character and a different instrument or group of instruments. The vertical fins represent the rhythm of the drums.
